Takekata, COO of Spatial Pleasure (Operating Company: Spatial Pleasure Co., Ltd., Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Soma Suzuki), spoke at “the International Training Workshop on Smart Cities for Building Inclusive, Resilient, Livable, and Sustainable Cities and Communities in Asia and the Pacific,” held by the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) from August 29 (Tue) to September 1 (Fri).
The Asia-Pacific region is the most populated in the world and is experiencing rapid urbanization. Currently, over 54% of the world’s urban population resides in cities in the Asia-Pacific region. It is estimated that by 2030, this number will increase to 2.6 billion people. Cities in the Asia-Pacific region are facing numerous urban challenges, including uncontrollable population growth, rapid urbanization, inadequate and aging infrastructure, widening inequality and urban segregation, and vulnerability to climate change.
This workshop focused on smart city models as solutions to address these urban challenges.
Spatial Pleasure develops decarbonization planning tools and DMRV software to support the certification of carbon credits specifically for the urban and transport sectors. During this workshop, we aimed to provide insights to urban policymakers, planners, and city stakeholders on how to realize green finance based on decarbonization planning and urban environmental value measurement in the transport sector. Takekata spoke during the session titled “Session III: Smart Mobility and Transport,” held on August 30 (Wed), 9:30 – 11:00.
